Embark on an inspiring journey through the works of one of Tallinn’s most celebrated sons, Michel Sittow, this winter at the Niguliste Museum. From November 21, 2026 through March 21, 2027, the remarkable exhibition “”Michel Sittow 500″” marks the half-millennium since the master artist’s passing. Visitors are invited to rediscover Sittow’s fascinating story, beginning with his early, predominantly religious masterpieces created in Spain and culminating in his acclaimed reign as a sought-after European court artist.
At the heart of the exhibition are a rare selection of magnificent panel paintings from the Luna family’s chapel in Toledo Cathedral, some of Sittow’s earliest and most evocative work—dynamic depictions of saints that cemented his reputation. This is a unique opportunity to stand face-to-face with works seldom seen beyond Spain and experience the Flemish-inspired brilliance that made Sittow one of the Renaissance’s most admired portraitists. Visitors can climb the Niguliste viewing platform for panoramic city views, rounding out a memorable cultural visit in the snow-dusted Tallinn Old Town.
