1 Reviews on “Restaurant Türgi BBQ (Turkish)”
My colleague Oskar and I recently dropped by Türgi BBQ for lunch since it’s just a short walk from our office. We weren’t expecting much – we mainly picked it for convenience. But what we found was a surprisingly satisfying and hearty experience that deserves a shout-out.
The place itself has a slightly old-school interior, with some mismatched decor and a bit of a retro vibe, but it felt very homely and relaxed. It’s the kind of spot where you immediately feel comfortable – like stepping into someone’s dining room rather than a trendy eatery. Not Instagrammable, but absolutely welcoming.
We went for the Iskender Kebab and a dish called Cokertme Kebab. Both portions were very generous, served with rice, grilled veggies, yogurt, and plenty of sauce. The Iskender had that classic combo of döner slices over toasted bread, smothered in tomato sauce and yogurt – rich, satisfying, and exactly what you want on a lunch break.
The meat was juicy, and while not the absolute best we’ve had, I’d say its far better than most of the other places in Tallinn, we were told it was either for the Cokertme marinated there in place or for the Iskender it was imported from Germany, it definitely hit the spot for comfort food. For drinks, we had a couple of sodas, and the total for both meals and drinks came to €33 – solid value for the size and quality.
Also we are a bit biased as we are not huge fans of the pickled veggies which many places here in Estonia offer. This felt like an actual Turkish dish.
Highlights:
Very filling portions
Cozy, no-frills atmosphere
Friendly service
Fast and efficient lunch option near Baalti Jaam
