Joaorg extends a Narva visit beyond the castle walls into a more open riverside landscape. It is a useful place to finish a walk, take a break or look back towards the fortresses. Think of it first as an outdoor recreation area; the beach house and other services can be added when their current availability suits your plans.
What is here
The city's tourism listing describes a town beach, paths, sports facilities and a beach house at Linnuse 2. The building has an observation deck and has housed services such as a gym, sauna and equipment rental. Those facilities operate separately from the public landscape, so confirm any service you specifically want before travelling. The wider Joaorg area also has an archaeological history, giving the riverside setting a story beyond its modern recreational use.
A good ending to the promenade
Walk here after the castle or continue south from the river promenade. Stop before deciding whether everyone wants to go farther: it is easy to turn a pleasant stroll into a tiring route by adding too many destinations. The views towards the castle make the journey worthwhile even when you are not planning beach time. For a first trip, combining Joaorg with the promenade and one major indoor attraction is enough for a varied day.
Plan around the season
A river beach is not the same as the sea resort at Narva-Jõesuu, which is a separate destination. Follow local signs and current swimming information if you intend to enter the water; our walking route does not depend on swimming. In cooler weather, make this a shorter outdoor stop and check any indoor facilities in advance. Equipment hire, food service and rooftop access should not be assumed from the recreation area's year-round status. If you need a particular surface, changing facility or accessible route, confirm it with the operator. Bring what you need for the walk rather than relying on every service being open when you arrive.
