A little orientation
Narva rewards a visit that goes beyond the castle photograph. Walk the riverfront, explore the story of the lost pre-war town, then give Kreenholm its own place in the itinerary. The contrast between the fortifications, reconstructed centre and industrial district is the reason to stay long enough to see more than one side of the city.
One day for the castle and riverfront; two days to add Kreenholm, galleries and a slower city walk.
Longer daylight for extended walks; year-round museums and a quieter winter visit with bookings checked ahead.
The castle, Town Hall Square and main riverfront sights can form a walking day. Kreenholm and the outer areas need more deliberate travel planning. Compare rail and coach arrivals, then check the route from the station to your accommodation.
Your first day
Visit the castle, walk the promenade and stop at Town Hall Square. Add Dark Garden or Joaorg according to your route. Save Kreenholm for a separate half-day built around a confirmed tour.
Book factory and bastion visits before fixing the rest of the day. A walk around Kreenholm's public streets does not include access to the restricted factory grounds.

Narva's most useful visitor map has several layers: the historic centre on higher ground, the riverfront below it, the modern central streets and Kreenholm farther south. This guide combines official district names with clearly labelled visitor areas. It helps you choose a base and connect sights; it does not draw administrative boundaries around every suggested walk.
